Clinton Community College, one of the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, has announced the recipient of the 2026 Connie Campbell Memorial Customer Service Award. The award was created in memory of CCC employee Connie Campbell of Camanche who passed away in June of 2006. The award honors a CCC employee whose work reflects that customer care that Connie demonstrated daily, going above and beyond to give excellent internal and external service. Mary Jo Nier, High School Equivalency (HiSE) Lead Teacher and Data Analyst, is the 2026 recipient of this honor.
Under the leadership of Mary Jo Nier, the CCC HiSE program has grown in service to students and student completion rates have almost tripled in just 3 years. Her dedication to students earning a diploma is visible in her actions and the results of the program. CCC President Dr. Brian Kelly made the presentation to Nier stating, “Mary Jo is a champion of customer service. She is continually looking for opportunities to help students to reach their goals.” He continued to share comments from nominators, “Mary Jo accommodates student schedules. She has a way of meeting students where they are with empathy and understanding. She is a problem solver focused on student success, and puts their needs before their own.” The nominator comments about the work Mary Jo does every day to serve students continue, “Mary Jo goes well above and beyond, and making sure all have the resources they need to be successful. She is a great communicator, reliable and dependable. Mary Jo continually goes above and beyond for students and staff.”
