The 1ST Gateway Credit Union Foundation is proud to announce their first shoe drop as part of their Credit Union Kicks initiative. On October 21st, credit union staff, board members, and community volunteers will visit Camanche Elementary School to personally deliver a new pair of shoes and socks to every student.
Credit Union Kicks is part of 1ST Gateway Credit Union’s ongoing commitment to its Sharing Our Success (S.O.S.) program - supporting families and strengthening the communities it serves. The inaugural delivery will provide over 300 students with comfortable, high-quality shoes, ensuring that every child can walk into the classroom with confidence.
Camanche Elementary School was chosen as the first school for Credit Union Kicks because it holds a special place in 1ST Gateway Credit Union’s history. The credit union was originally founded in Camanche over 70 years ago as Cellophane Credit Union, serving employees of the DuPont Company.
“We look forward to seeing the smiles on students’ faces as they receive their new shoes,” said Pat Drennen, CEO. “This is what being a credit union is all about - coming together to make a positive difference in our communities, and this time, specifically for our kids.
” This marks the first year of both Credit Union Kicks and the 1ST Gateway Credit Union Foundation; an initiative made possible through the generosity of 1ST Gateway Credit Union members, staff, board, and community partners who share the credit union’s mission of people helping people.
