Mike Trachta, MercyOne VP of Rural Hospitals and Regional Operations, was recently awarded the 2024 Jerry Karbeling Award from the Iowa Rural Health Association (IRHA).
This distinguished award honors the legacy of Jerry Karbeling, an active member and past president of the IRHA. It is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to rural health in Iowa and exemplify leadership, community dedication and a strong commitment to public health policy.
“I am honored to receive this recognition from the Iowa Rural Health Association. I feel fortunate to be able to support rural hospitals and providers every day. The collaboration and support between large and small organizations across Iowa weave one of the best health care tapestries in the nation,” said Trachta.
Trachta has provided executive support for MercyOne’s eight owned and 20 affiliated rural hospitals for the last ten years. His peers nominated him for his respected leadership within the health care industry, his commitment to community well-being and his passion for advancing health policy for Iowans.
