MercyOne Clinton Medical Center is now a Milk Collection Depot for the Mother’s Milk Bank of Iowa

MercyOne Clinton Medical Center is now a Milk Collection Depot for the Mother’s Milk Bank of Iowa.

“This is exciting news for at-risk babies throughout Iowa. Human milk is the best source of nutrients babies need to be healthy, especially for preterm babies who struggle during the first days and weeks of their lives,” said Liz Macke, director of maternal and children services at MercyOne Clinton Medical Center. “Anyone who donates will make a real difference to area families.”

If area mothers have a surplus of breastmilk, they can generously donate it to the MercyOne Clinton Milk Collection Depot. The simple donation process includes three steps.

  • Short verbal screening
  • Written questionnaire for your health care provider
  • Blood test at the MercyOne Clinton lab.

Anyone interested in donating can contact Liz Macke at 563-244-3909 for instructions on donor screening or email Heidi-Baudhuin@uiowa.edu for more information about becoming a donor.
