Grow Clinton is proud to welcome Constellation Energy as its newest member. As a leading energy company and major regional employer, Constellation brings significant economic impact, industry expertise, and community investment to the Grow Clinton region.
Constellation operates a major energy generation site near Cordova, Illinois, along the Mississippi River. The Quad Cities Clean Energy Center site spans approximately 765 acres and employs 725 individuals, contributing substantially to the local workforce and economy. The company also pays an estimated $16 million in annual property tax payments, supporting local infrastructure and public services.
The facility features two operating nuclear units with a total site net generation capacity of 1,870 megawatts (MW). In 2025 alone, the site produced 11,380,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity, achieving an impressive capacity factor of 92.6%. This level of production is sufficient to power more than one million homes, highlighting Constellation Energy’s critical role in delivering reliable energy across the region.
As part of its operations, the plant utilizes boiling-water reactors manufactured by General Electric and is jointly owned by Constellation (75%) and MidAmerican (25%). General Electric led engineering and construction in partnership with Sargent and Lundy. Both units began commercial operation in 1973, with Unit 1 entering service in February and Unit 2 in March. The units are currently licensed to operate through December 14, 2032.
Constellation Energy is also deeply committed to supporting the communities it serves through workforce development programs, philanthropy, and volunteerism initiatives. Among its key community sponsorships are the Boy Scouts of Illowa Council, Quad City Engineering and Science Council, Clinton County Ducks Unlimited, River Bend Educational Foundation, and Junior Achievement of the Heartland.
“Constellation represents the kind of innovative and impactful organization that strengthens our regional economy,” said Andy Sokolovich, President & CEO of Grow Clinton. “We are excited to partner with a company that not only provides essential energy but also demonstrates a strong commitment to community and economic development.”
As a Grow Clinton member, Constellation will engage with local employers, support workforce initiatives, and help shape regional growth strategies.
