The Clinton Area Showboat Theatre is proud to celebrate an extraordinary Summer 2025 season, marking Artistic Director Courtney Ryan Crouse’s first full year at the helm. Under Crouse’s leadership, the theatre enjoyed a remarkably positive and successful year, marked by strong productions, a energetic company spirit, and record-breaking ticket sales.
“Our 2025 season was everything we hoped for and more,” said Crouse. “I’m incredibly grateful for the support of this community and the hard work and heart our company brought to the Showboat each and every day.”
This past Summer featured an exciting lineup of productions that drew enthusiastic crowds from across the region. With several performances selling out, the Showboat posted record ticket sales, reflecting both the quality of the work onstage and the growing reputation of the theatre as a cultural gem of Northeastern Iowa.
Beyond their work in the theatre, the 2025 acting company, staff, and crew fully embraced their summer in Clinton. Cast members could often be found shopping and dining at local businesses, swimming, taking relaxing walks along the beautiful river walk, and enjoying the spectacular Fourth of July fireworks. On their days off, company members ventured out to explore iconic surrounding attractions such as The Castle and the legendary Field of Dreams, experiences that deepened their appreciation for the region and made their Summer truly unforgettable.
Each year, the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre attracts an extraordinary pool of talent, and 2025 was no exception. The theatre typically receives over 1,500 online submissions from performers seeking summer contracts. In addition, Crouse and the artistic staff travel to universities throughout the Midwest and East Coast to audition emerging artists, ensuring that Clinton audiences enjoy performances from some of the finest rising talent in the country.
With such tremendous momentum coming out of the 2025 season, the excitement for next summer is already building.
“We have incredible momentum right now,” Crouse said. “I’m very much looking forward to our upcoming 2026 season. We’ve put together a wonderful lineup of shows and are assembling another exceptional company of actors, technicians, and creative artists. It’s going to be a season to remember.”
