Fire Extinguisher/Kitchen Hood Suppression/Alarm Tech

Lectronics Inc of Clinton Iowa is a three-generation family-owned Electronics and Communication business who is seeking a Fire Extinguisher/Kitchen Hood Suppression/Alarm Technician position. Lectronics Inc. covers multiple counties in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. This position requires knowledge of repair, installation of Alarm (Burglar and Fire) systems, fire extinguishers and kitchen hood suppression systems. The successful candidate should also be self-motivated, team-oriented, and committed to supporting the industry. Examples of tasks and duties include installing, repairing, and maintaining the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduction inspections, testing and maintenance of fire extinguishers in accordance with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards and local regulations.
- Perform inspections and servicing of kitchen hood suppression systems, ensuring compliance applicable codes and standards.
- Identify and document deficiencies in fire extinguisher systems and kitchen hood suppression systems, providing solutions for repairs or replacements as needed.
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate records of all inspections, maintenance, and repairs performed.
- Educate clients on proper fire safety practices and the importance of regular maintenance of fire suppression systems.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction.
- Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and emerging fire safety technologies.

- Fire Extinguisher Inspection and Repair
- Kitchen Hood Suppression Inspections
- NAFED Certification
Typical and preferred skills, abilities, knowledge, and qualifications include the following:
- Previous experience as a fire extinguisher technician or in a related role preferred.
- Knowledge of NFPA standards and local fire codes related to fire extinguishers and kitchen hood suppression systems.
- Strong technical and trouble shooting skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Physical ability to handle equipment and perform work in various environments, including commercial kitchens.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to work where needed within the company.
- Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Professional communication and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work alone and as part of a team.
- Ability to properly use many types of basic to advanced test equipment.
Other Requirement:
- Risks found in the field environment will include: working and driving in adverse weather conditions, working long hours in times of emergency, lifting heavy objects, ability to climb ladders up to 25 feet in height.
- Being on-call.
- Be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Schedule:
- Day Shift
- Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Time may very depending on job location.)
- On Call
- Individual for this position needs to be willing to work on an as needed basis whether that is with the Fire Extinguishers for a day or working with the Alarm Department.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; additional certificates in fire protection or safety management a plus.
- Technical or Associates in Area Preferred
- Willingness to keep certifications up to date.
