Job Description The Career Navigator assists students enrolling in identified programs and works to develop collaboration with employers in identified industry areas in order to connect students with work-based learning experiences, and ultimately with employment.
Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in education, counseling or related field
  • Ability to work effectively across academic disciplines and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including both oral and written skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Significant intercultural acumen and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Creativity and commitment to program initiatives.
  • Knowledge of retention strategies and technologies to support and improve student success.

Work Location primary locations: Blong Technology Center, Davenport, IA and Scott Community College, Bettendorf, IA
 
Physical Demands This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Salary Minimum Starting Salary $45,000
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates an on-going understanding of identified programs offered through EICC, and the workplace opportunities associated with each program area.
  • Works with area employers to develop internship opportunities and identify employment needs.
  • Coordinates intake process that identifies student needs, challenges, and goals. Identifies resources to address any challenge areas.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the college application process, financial aid process, and various resources available to assist students.
  • Ensures a seamless connection for potential students with program coordinators, financial aid, and support services necessary to student’s success.
  • Processes state reporting and evaluates outcomes annually.
  • Responsible for coordinating outreach and recruitment activities in designated area for identified programs.
  • Coordinates recruitment efforts with college marketing team.
  • Works with area employers to incorporate work-site visits into recruiting events.
  • Works with high school and ABE/GED counselors and staff to provide program information, and labor market information.
  • Collaborates with ABE/HSE Recruitment Specialists to ensure a seamless transition into training and employment for students.
  • As applicable, works with students engaged in apprenticeship programs to advise, support, and attain completion goals.
  • Advises students in target areas and develops educational plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.
