Job Description
Under general supervision, performs a variety of complex paraprofessional and clerical library work requiring specialized knowledge.
This is a part-time position.
Required Qualifications
At least two years of college, and previous library experience including use of automated library systems, social networking, and computer applications required, including knowledge of Microsoft 365. Working knowledge of library classification and circulation. Proficiency with automated library systems and basic troubleshooting for library-related software and hardware. Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to explain policies and assist diverse patrons. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.

Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Circulation & Public Service
• Assist patrons with checking materials in/out, renewals, requests, holds, and library account management using automated system
• Register new patrons, issue library accounts, student IDs, and explain library policies & resources
• Answer directional/reference questions in person, by phone, in an online environment, and via email
Technical Services & Cataloging
• Assist with library database maintenance and collection inventories; generate circulation and usage reports
Technology & Systems Support
• Operate and troubleshoot library software, public computers, copiers, printers, and self-service systems
• Operate cloud-based services (e.g. circulation platforms) and perform first-level support
Other Duties
• Assist in planning, hosting, or supporting library events and programs (e.g., book clubs, enrichment activities)
• Perform routine clerical tasks-phone reception, data entry
• Perform shelf reading, collection maintenance, weeding tasks to maintain collection order and integrity
• Perform routine cleaning tasks to maintain a healthy learning environment
• Performs other duties as assigned.
