Camanche LEGO League Students to Present Project at Discovery Center on Sunday

The sixth-grade Camanche Middle School LEGO League team, the Digsite Defenders, will give a special presentation at the Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center, 332 8th Avenue South, Clinton, this Sunday, November 16, at 2 p.m.

The students will unveil their work, which will become an exhibit that will be on display at the children’s museum through November 30.  The event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.  Museum admission is required.

As part of their LEGO League challenge this season, the student-led team designed a series of interactive and educational displays to help visitors understand why archaeology is important, how archaeological discoveries affect our lives today, and why it’s vital to leave dig sites undisturbed.

Team members have worked together to create hands-on activities that are both fun and informative for Discovery Center visitors of all ages. Their work highlights how curiosity, respect for the past, and teamwork can make a real difference in protecting our shared history. The team is coached by Sheryl Kennedy, k-12 TAG teacher, Camanche School District.

Sarah Lind, executive director of the Discovery Center, is excited to have the students’ work showcased at the children’s museum.

“The Discovery Center is proud to partner with the Digsite Defenders as they share their hands-on activities that teach about archaeology,” said Lind.  “Their activity stations will be a great addition to learning through play at the children’s museum.”

Admission to the Discovery Center is $5 per person ages two to 64, $4 per person ages 65 and older, free for children one and younger, and free for Discovery Center members.

The Felix Adler Children's Discovery Center is a non-profit children's museum bringing learning through play -- every day in every way.  Their mission is to provide a safe and positive environment for families to discover the world by exploring arts, culture, literacy and science through educational programs and interactive exhibits.
